Holiday Village Makeover
Hi friends, thank you so much for stopping by! I took a little break from my dining room makeover to focus my attention on a few holiday crafts. I don’t know about you, but I’m in holiday mode! The past few Christmases I’ve talked myself out of buying a holiday village; they can be pricey, and I never seem to have the extra money to spend this time of year.
When I spotted these poorly painted holiday houses at the Dollar Store, I immediately thought ”white spray paint!”! I snatched up several of them and headed home to give them a makeover.
Once they were painted, they looked a bit plain, so I added some glitter to the areas on the houses that would have ‘snow’; the roofs, steps, window sills, etc.
This is the easiest holiday craft I’ve done in a long time , and the most time-consuming part was waiting for the paint to dry! If you have little ones, they would have fun brushing on the glue and sprinkling the glitter.
I love the way they look and can’t wait to put them out at Christmas time! What do you think of my holiday village makeover? I would love to hear some of your inexpensive holiday craft ideas, you can let me know by leaving me a comment below.
Thanks for stopping by!

So pretty, like it much..Hugs
Thank you! So glad you stopped by!
A couple of these would look really darling sitting on some faux snow on top of a pedestal cake stand with a glass cover.
Thank you for the suggestion; I completely agree! Thanks so much for stopping by…
This is such a fabulous idea. Love the frosty glitter look. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
Love these, what a great idea.
Thank you, Laurie!
I love what you did to your Village — so pretty. It just so happens I’ve been on the lookout for village churches ever since scoring a Partylite “cathedral” at a rummage sale in September, it’s a creamy-colored porcelain and a votive candle holder. Are your houses and church votive candle holders or are they equipped with cords for a small light bulb to light up the insides? Whatever I eventually find at the right price (everything I’ve found thus far is more than I’m willing to pay), I will also spray paint mine like you did yours, trying to match the “porcelain” color of my original “cathedral.” The glitter you added is an extra, lovely dimension. How they must sparkle and shimmer in candlelight, which is what I imagine them surrounded by. I found you at and am visiting from The Shabby Nest: Frugal Friday.
Thank you for your lovely comment! My villages don’t have an opening for a candle, nor are they electric. They do have a small hole in the bottom that is big enough to insert a bulb from a strand of holiday lights, which I am currently working on doing. I think it will look lovely once I find some battery operated ones.
Good luck on your Partylite village search, I know it will be worth the effort!
