The Fixer Upper

I’m sure you all have already discovered “The Fixer Upper” on HGTV, but I’m new to it, and so excited to share this awesomeness! I had stumbled upon Joanna’s blog “Magnolia” awhile ago and was completely enamored; and despite the fact that the website references the show heavily (and the fact that my sister has told me repeatedly to watch the show), I just haven’t taken the time to watch.   For those of you hiding under a rock (like me) the show “Fixer Upper” follows Joanne and Chip, the cutest couple ever, as they renovate old, dilapidated homes in their home town of Waco, Texas.  And, as if that wasn’t enough to do, they have a home decor store, “The Magnolia Market” that they run, and a 40 acre farm, and, oh yeah, 4 small children to raise.  They are the ultimate super couple.

Lets take a look at one of the homes they rehabbed (season 1, episode 1).  This is the house before Joanne and Chip worked their magic.

Still not enough, is it?  Don’t worry, there is plenty more to see on HGTV, and also on Joanne and Chips’ website, Magnolia Homes.com.

I love that this couple saves old homes from certain death, I love, love that they are so connected with family and community, and I love, love, love Joanne’s decorating style.  It is as if she has channeled exactly what I have been trying to accomplish in my own home; the vintage pieces mixed with updated country farmhouse.  I’m inspired to keep working toward making my own home reflect my family and the way we live.

If you haven’t already, you owe it to yourself to check out this show!  Let me know what you think!
