Acres of Vintage Collectibles Part 2

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope you had a good weekend.  Mine was filled with back to school shopping along with the usual chores.  I can’t believe my kiddos head back to class next Monday – where did the summer go?

Anyway, I finally got around to editing some more photos from my trip to California, to visit my dad and stepmom.  They live on several acres of land, every single bit of it filled with vintage collectibles that the two of them have collected over the years.  There was so much stuff, I didn’t even see it all, but here are some pictures of some of the things I most enjoyed.

An old stove and some enamelware.  Check out the food scale on top – I wanted to take that home, but dad said no way. :(

This old wooden shelf was stuffed with all kinds of goodies…

Oh, the rusty old watering cans!  Again, I wanted to take these home, but knew better than to ask.  My dad really enjoys this collection.

A very small portion of the rock collection… check out the glass bottles mixed in!

And this one had veining in it  in the shape of a heart.  Notice the crack running through it – I guess it’s a broken heart. :)

I still can’t get my mind off of this awesome wooden horse that was laying on top of some random stuff in a box.  It had a broken leg, but I’m pretty sure the leg was in the box as well.  I’m going to have to call Dad and ask if he’ll ship this to me.  I can’t believe I left it behind…

Did I mention my dad collects vehicles, too?  Here is one of his recent finds.

A row of old mailboxes…

And some lanterns – they would go perfectly with my seaside farmhouse dining room.

Some awesome old signage.  I have a couple of walls in my house that could use some signs…

And license plates…

Ever wonder what to do with all those old tin cans you have just lying around?  Why not use them as mulch for your cacti?

And while we’re talking about gardening, how about some rusty, crusty lawnmowers – Lord knows they aren’t seeing much action around my dad’s house…

And perhaps a few birdhouses, to liven things up a bit…

And maybe some actual birds… My dad calls these his “girls”.  They are getting old, but they still lay a few eggs every now and then.  He and my step-mom were patiently awaiting the delivery of some baby chicks to add to the coop.

Where shall we go next?  Let’s take E. 6th street…

That will take us through the desert, past some interesting stumps of wood that look like rusted metal…

Past the old Vegas hotel signs…

And to the end of road, where this cool little creation resides.

And that, my friends, concludes the tour of my dad and step-moms property.  I told you they had some awesome stuff. :)  I’ll be back soon to show you the treasures I took home with me.  Have a great week!
