Acres of Vintage Collectibles

Happy Friday, everyone!  Was it just me, or did this week seem to drag on forever?  Maybe it’s because I’m looking forward to my sweet mom moving out here from Tucson this weekend, to be near my sister and I.  I’m not looking forward to unloading the moving truck in 110 degree weather, but I’m definitely excited to have my mom here, sharing in our lives on a day-to-day basis.

Speaking of parents, my sister and I went to visit my dad and stepmom in California a few months ago and I wanted to share a few pictures with you.  My dad is the ultimate collector of vintage stuff, and he lives on 5 acres of land that he and his wife have carefully curated with their collected treasures.  They have ALOT of stuff, but they are very thoughtful about what they bring onto the property and my dad and his wife enjoy making artistic creations with their finds.  Not to mention that my dad has sold many, many of their items for quite a profit (are you listening Frank and Mike from American Pickers?)  Anyhow, it’s always a treat to visit and see what fun things he and my stepmom have collected and displayed on the property.  This time, my sister and I got to pick out some treasures to haul back home with us (I really wish we had more room in our vehicle – we left so many cool things behind!)  I only had my IPhone with me, but I managed to snap quite a few pics that I think you’ll enjoy.  I’m still in the process of editing them all, but here are a few just to give you an idea what I’m talking about.

This is the front porch to the house.  It is jam-packed with vintage goodness!  And this is just the outside wall of the porch; wait until you see what’s inside!

Check out that collection of old electrical transformers!  I got to take a few of those home with me.  And check out the perfectly weathered barnboard – I wish I could have taken some of that!

This is looking at the front of the porch, the other direction.  You can see over the wall into the porch in this picture.

And now we’re walking up the stairs to the inside of the porch area…

Every available nook and cranny holds treasures.  Even the signpost is used as display space!

And tucked into the back corner is my dad’s treasured Coca-Cola machine.  It still works!

And on the opposite side of the porch against the railing…

And this is just the front porch!  Remember; there are 5 acres worth of this stuff to see!  It’s like an amusement park and a few hours was just not enough time to see it all.  In fact, we only saw a very small portion, but I will have to save those pictured for next time.  I’ll leave you with just a few more pictures….

This is the petrified wood collection…

And this is a fairly new collection of old crockery.

Pretty cool stuff, eh?  I’ll be back soon with some more pictures of our tour – until then, have a great weekend!
