Rustic Chic Fall Entryway Tour
Happy Friday, friends! It’s been a very busy week and I’m looking forward to a lazy, relaxing weekend spent on the sofa, wearing my yoga pants and watching football with my hubby. We’ll see if that actually happens, but it’s nice to have a plan.
As I mentioned earlier in the week, I finally unpacked the fall decor and started cozy-ing up my home in preparation for the shorter, cooler days that are coming soon. It’s been slow-going as I work my way around the house, but I wanted to share a few pictures of my entryway all decked out in autumn loveliness. Let’s just call this a “Rustic Chic” fall entryway tour; shall we?
And….
I have to admit, I had a little bit of fun playing with my new camera. There’s plenty of room for improvement with my photography skills, but I’m excited to learn and (hopefully) get better with practice.
I decided to go neutral with my color scheme, using mostly whites, grays and browns, with a few pops of yellow and green. The wreath was pulled out of storage, along with the faux pumpkins (it sounds so much better than saying plastic pumpkins, doesn’t it?). Most of the other items were re-purposed from other rooms in the house.
The owl is actually my daughters and he’s usually perched in her bedroom on her bookshelf but every fall I bird-nap him and use him in my fall decorating. He doesn’t mind. He told me so.
The wooden crate is something I picked up while visiting my dad a few months ago (you can read about it here). It’s rather crusty and a bit splintery, so I was happy to find a place for it way up high on the shelf, where no one could impale their unsuspecting fingers on it. I filled it with some random small things that add a bit of texture and interest to the space.
The hydrangeas are also faux, because I live in the desert and I didn’t think cactus or tumbleweed would look quite right. Sometimes I just like to pretend that I can grow pretty flowers in this hot, dusty climate.
Are you still awake over there? Okay, good. I know, I took alot of pictures but I promise, I’m almost done.
The burlap-ish pillow is one I already had but I picked up the faux fur one (there’s that word again!) at World Market. The plaid pillow I sewed myself with a bit of clearance fabric.
And there you have it; a little mini-tour of my home decorated for fall. I’ll have more to show you next week, along with a fun fall project and tutorial, but for now, I leave you with one last picture. I just can’t control myself!
Happy fall, y’all!

I’m not at all surprised that your daughters owl doesn’t mind the change of scenery for a little while, he looks great up their with your faux items! (and the non faux ones too of course) I especially like the hydrangeas, and your photography skills are looking pretty good to me.
