Rustic and Relaxed Fall Family Room Tour
Happy Friday, everyone! We made it through another week, and checked a few more things off of our home improvement project “to-do” list. My husband and I will be hosting Thanksgiving dinner at our house this year so we have been working hard to get our house ready for guests. We recently finished a “makeover” on our dining room, then decorated it for Fall, and last weekend I moved onto the family room, adding some Fall touches in there, as well.
We recently replaced our too-small area rug with a larger jute rug that brings a “natural” feel to the space. I then swapped out the summery pillow covers for plaid, burlap, and fur covered ones, bringing in the cozy feel I was after.
I accessorized using inexpesive natural elements, like wheat, pumpkins, feathers, antlers, seed pods, leaves and branches cut from the fruit tree in our yard.
I don’t think I’ve showed this side of the room on the blog yet. Hubby and I were having a difficult time finding an entertainment center big enough to fill up this wall, so we did a rustic makeover on a large console table we found, then retro-fitted the drawers to hold the DVD player, Playstation, and other electronics. I’ll be sharing the DIY for this piece in the next couple of weeks.
I’m still in the process of collecting the artwork I hope to use in a gallery wall above the entertainment center. Hopefully it will help keep the gi-normous television from standing out so much.
I showed you one side of our entryways a few weeks ago, now here’s the other side of the entryway. It connects to the family room and also received the “Fall” treatment. Some pumpkins, Indian corn, and branches were all that was needed.
There are a few more things that need to be done (curtains for the french doors and windows, artwork, etc), but it’s getting there. The space feels cozy and inviting, and I’m so looking forward to entertaining family and friends here this holiday season! What are your holiday plans this year? Will you be hosting Thanksgiving dinner, or heading out to celebrate with friends and family? I’d love to hear about your plans in the comments, or you can connect with me via email, Facebook or Instagram.

This is sooo cozy and inviting! Great space!!
Thank you, Katelyn!
Very cozy and inviting! I really love that rug. I’m in the market for a new one for our living room. Also a way to hide our PS3, Xbox, etc. since in our new house, the TV has to go on the wall and it’s unfortunately right in front of the front door… like IN the entryway. I love how you solved the problem of having all the consoles hidden.

Thank you, Stephanie! I had been looking for this rug for awhile and was lucky enough to find it on Craigslist. The console has definitely solved the problem of all the “eyesore” electronic equipment, except for the giant sub-woofer that I can’t seem to be able to disguise
Good luck with your decorating dilemma, I’m sure you’ll find the perfect solution!
Love it all, Amy!! Such a cozy space, and I really love all the natural elements you incorporated! So simple, but yet so perfect for fall! Beautiful as always

Your Fall home is beautiful! And that TV console looks pretty amazing. I like how chunky it is. Your Fiddle Leaf Fig is stealing the show, though. I can not keep one alive! I just don’t get enough natural light in our living room.

Thanks, Nikki! I’m actually surprised I’ve managed to keep my fig tree alive! I usually have a black thumb when it comes to plants. I think it helps that it spent the entire summer on my back patio, soaking up the sun
Oooh I love your new rug and your pillow covers! I also ADORE your TV console. Everything is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing at On Display Thursday!

Your home is gorgeous and I love how you’ve decorated it for the fall. I really love the wheat and feathers and corn you’ve added throughout. The bones of your home are beautiful, too! I really love the shelf under your TV, we have been trying to figure out what we’ll do in that area of our home. Thanks for linking up with Motivational Monday, hope to see you back this week!
