Hello, and thank you for stopping by! My name is Amy and I’m passionate about all things home. I’m a design enthusiast, DIYer, bargain hunter, working mom to two teenagers, and wife to a handsome and hard-working man. My life is busy; I’m always looking for ways to simplify it, leaving more time and energy for the things I value most; family, friends and home.
My philosophy is simple: Every home deserves to be comfortable and beautiful; truly embracing the people who live there. My family has moved a lot in the last twenty years. We’ve owned houses and we’ve rented houses and each move brings the challenge of making our new space feel like “home” while also being stylish and functional, for as little expense as possible. The remedy? Re-purpose what I have, paint what I can, shop thrift stores, tag sales, and Craigslist, and when necessary, build what I need, myself (or with a little help from my hubby).
It was through the inspirational blogging community that I discovered my own personal style and found the courage to express it. My limited budget forced me to be creative in finding ways to personalize my home. My hope is that, through Home Remedies, others will feel engaged, encouraged and empowered to create the home they desire, no matter what the obstacles!
My family recently purchased our third home (after several years of moving and renting), and we are excited to truly make it our own. I hope you will follow along as we DIY our way through several renovation projects and various home decorating challenges. I’ll be sharing our adventures in daily living, decorating ideas, DIY tutorials, and things I’ve learned along the way. I’m glad you’re here and, I hope you’ll follow along!

How do you create the inspiration boards? Is it a certain program? Also, how did you add text and arrows to your dining room photo?
I used a free program called Olioboard to create this inspiration board. I didn’t find it to be too user friendly so I’ll be shopping for a different program to use next time. The text and arrows were made in MS Paint, which is very user friendly but somewhat limited (fonts, etc.). I haven’t yet made the investment for Photoshop – saving my pennies!
Love touring your Christmas home. The design and decorations are lovely. Could you plase tell me where you found the birch wrappng paper. Thank you, Peggy pr@neo.rr.com
Thank you so much, Peggy! I found the paper at Homegoods, but Pier One carries it as well! Thanks so much for visiting!
